"Lauran Sundin has brought a unique and precious dimension to the art of lace, one which allies her understanding of the techniques involved with a vision of clean, clear design possibilities inspired by her love of Japanese aesthetics. Precision and patience underlie her methods, qualities she passes carefully to students to give them an appreciation that if they follow the path she has waymarked, they, too, will achieve remarkable results. Lauran's work embodies perfection, imagination and vigour, breath-taking conception and painstaking construction. Her fascinating catalogue and her international achievements are exemplary - but instead of hugging these to herself, she passes everything on, to secure a flourishing future for her discoveries."

"I had the privilege to attend a wire lace workshop by Lauran in 2018, and it has extended my knowledge of material manipulation in bobbin lace exponentially. The skills I gained in Lauren's class have come in handy making lace not just with wire, but other unyielding materials like thick rope and audio tape. The jeweller's touch and attention to detail have crossed over to my lace in textiles too, and I find that I am a much neater lacemaker. I can highly recommend this class to any lacemaker and lace teacher. Lauran is an inspiring lacemaker, a kind and patient teacher and a wonderful asset to contemporary lace."

"Lauran Sundin is an exciting innovator in contemporary bobbin lace making. I was happy to include her work Typhoon in the ground-breaking exhibit, Lace, not Lace: Contemporary Fiber Art from Lacemaking Techniques. Her precious metal jewelry made in three-dimensions using bobbin lace technique shows great imagination and technical proficiency. She has originated many wire lace techniques which she graciously shares with students in her workshops. A leader in the contemporary lace movement, she supports other artists with advice and encouragement. Her work will be an important addition to museum collections and will earn a special place in the canon of fiber art."

Lauran introduced us to the intricacies of working with fine wire in bobbin lace. She very clearly and patiently explained the properties of wire and how to get the best results using the wire. She also introduced many different techniques that can be used in a variety of ways and with a variety of materials. She has been a constant inspiration to me and I wish that she lives next door to me rather than on the other side of the world!

If you want to leave the traditional paths of textile bobbin lace making and develop this wonderful technique in a contemporary way, I highly recommend the course "wire lace" with Lauran Sundin. I had the great fortune to participate in her fully booked course in Brugge 2018. From the very beginning, you can feel the great passion with which Lauran encourages her course participants to think outside the box and discover the endless possibilities of wire lace. Effortlessly she directed the 25! Participants routinely and always with a smile through her perfectly prepared course program. She told us all the tips and tricks she had developed. Her art is really unique! She uses her excellent knowledge of early lace art as an inexhaustible source of inspiration for her work, raising lace to a new contemporary level. This very intensive course inspires me to this day and I very much hope to lure Lauran over to my studio, in Germany, for a class soon.
