FINISHING – ADVANCED

This workshop is for those who wish to pursue designing, applications and finishings of wire bobbin lace.

Skill level:

Prerequisite all three previous workshops WIRE BOBBIN LACE FOR CONTEMPORARY & TRADITIONAL LACEMAKERS, TWO LAYER 3 WAYS and LINEN are required.

Covered in Workshop:

• Understanding the value of using paper patterns as mock ups for dimensional work.
• Distorting grids to form shapes.
• Experimentation using various other types of wire in addition to copper.
• In-depth methods of starts and finishes.
• Intensive investigation in using applicable support systems for stability depending on size of finished piece.
• Thinking three dimensionally. Extensive analyzation of structural integrity of the wire lace itself to understand the necessary support systems required.
